Frequently Asked Questions about Battery Heated Apparel

What is heated clothing?

Heated apparel is an innovative clothing line designed to keep you warm in cold weather. It has built – in heating elements, usually made of carbon fiber or thin metal wires, placed in key areas like the chest and back. These elements convert electrical energy into heat.

Powered by rechargeable lithium – ion batteries, the heat settings are adjustable. You can choose a low setting for mild cold or a high one for frigid conditions. It offers instant warmth, unlike traditional insulation. Ideal for outdoor activities such as skiing or for those working in cold environments, it combines functionality with style, available in various designs from jackets to gloves.

There are many types of heated clothing. Most notably these use 12-volt, 7.4-volt, and 5-volt powerbanks. The 5-volt powerbank allows one to use a common powerbank for both heating apparel and charging personal cell phone electronics.

12-volt batteries are designed for use with motorcycles, ATVs, or snowmobiles, and draw their power from the vehicle’s battery. As these use a higher voltage than 7.4v systems, they are more powerful and therefore heat a larger area at a higher temperature. Most brands using 12v systems are compatible. For instance, most 12v heated jackets come with built-in power cords that come out at the wrists to power heated gloves/liners and out from the bottom to power heated pants/liners. The pants then have cords coming from the bottom of each leg to power socks/liners/insoles.

Electric heated clothing converts electrical energy into heat energy through built – in heating elements and an intelligent temperature control system. It aims to provide precise warmth, enhance comfort, and adapt to diverse usage scenarios.
The following is the classification of its core functions:

Adaptability to Diverse Scenarios
Outdoor Sports: Skiing/mountaineering, hunting/fishing.
For Arthritis Sufferers: Local heating to relieve joint pain.
Daily Use: Keeping warm during commuting, working from home.

Active Heating and Temperature Control
Precise Temperature Control:
Adjust the temperature levels (usually 3 – 5 levels) through a controller or a mobile APP.
Zoned Heating:
Design independent heating zones for areas prone to getting cold, such as the back, abdomen, head, hands, and feet.

Before Cleaning

Always make sure to turn off the power and disconnect the battery from the heated clothing. This is a crucial safety step to prevent any electrical hazards during the cleaning process.

Gentle Hand – Washing

Gently immerse the clothing in the soapy water. Use a soft – bristled brush or a clean cloth to gently scrub any soiled areas. Be very careful around the heating elements and avoid applying excessive pressure, as this could damage the wiring or the heating components.

Machine – Washing

Select a gentle or delicate cycle on the washing machine. Use cold or lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners, as they may leave a residue that could affect the performance of the heating elements.

Yes, the battery of an electric heated clothing can be taken on a plane, but there are some regulations and restrictions to follow.

According to TSA regulations, if the battery is installed in an electronic device (such as an electric heated jacket), it can be carried in both carry-on and checked luggage without any additional approval.

Yes, it’s safe. Heating clothing usually use low-voltage batteries, such as common 5V, 7.4V, or 12V, which are much lower than the safe voltage for human body (36V), greatly reducing the risk of electric shock.
Many electric heating suits are equipped with overheat protection devices, which can automatically cut off power when the temperature is too high, preventing burns to the user.
High quality electric heating clothing is made of waterproof fabric for the outer layer, which can prevent water from damaging the heating elements even in rainy and snowy weather, reducing safety hazards.
Heating elements usually have stable thermal conductivity, which can evenly distribute heat and avoid local overheating.
The internal circuit design of the product incorporates functions such as battery short circuit protection to ensure safe use.

Private label Manufacturer

Heating technology: Selecting efficient heating elements such as carbon – fiber or graphene. The heating elements should be evenly distributed in the clothing to ensure uniform heat distribution.

Battery compatibility: Choosing the right battery with suitable voltage (usually 5V, 7.4V or 12V) and capacity to ensure long – lasting heating. Also, the battery should be easy to charge and replace.

Fabric properties: The fabric needs to be both insulating to retain heat and breathable to keep the wearer comfortable. It should also be durable and able to withstand repeated use and washing.

Yes. we have the ability to customize heating elements. If you need a specific heating area, power output, or heating pattern, we can adjust the design of the heating elements accordingly. For example, if you want a heated clothing with a larger heating area on the back for better warmth retention, we can modify the heating element layout.

Yes. In ODM production, you can use your own brand. we usually help with the branding processing, including adding your logo to the clothing, tags, and packaging. You need to ensure that you have the legal rights to use the brand.

Sign a non – disclosure agreement (NDA): Before starting any cooperation, We will sign a non-disclosure agreement(NDA) with each other to legally protect the confidentiality of the design ideas, brand information, and any other sensitive information.

Internal security measures: We will implement internal security measures, such as restricting access to relevant design documents and information to only authorized personnel.

The MOQ varies among different ODM clothing type. Generally, it can range from 500 to 2000 pieces for heated clothing. Some categories may be flexible with the MOQ for new clients or for products with simple designs, while for more complex or high – end products, the MOQ may be on the higher side.

The time mainly depends on the order quantity, complexity of the design, and the order season. For a small – scale order (e.g., a few hundred pieces) with a standard design, it may take about 4 – 6 weeks. However, for a large – scale order (thousands of pieces) or a highly customized design, it could take 8 – 12 weeks or even longer.

Material inspection: Thoroughly check the quality of raw materials, including heating elements, fabrics, and batteries. For example, heating elements should be tested for their heating efficiency and durability before use.

Production process control: Set up strict quality control points during the production line. Each step, from sewing the heating elements to assembling the final product, is inspected to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Final product testing: Conduct comprehensive tests on the finished heated clothing, such as heating performance tests (checking if the temperature settings are accurate), battery life tests, and washing resistance tests.

Yes. We will provide samples for you to review and test. This allows you to check the quality, design, and functionality of the heated clothing before placing a large – scale order.
Then you sign the reviewed sample back to me as a confirmation sample of the production process.

Usually, the cost of samples needs to be borne by the client, but it may be refunded or deducted from the total order cost when the mass production order is placed.

Express shipping: Suitable for urgent orders, such as DHL, FedEx, or UPS, which can deliver the products within a few days.

Sea freight: Cost – effective for large – volume orders. It usually takes 4 – 6 weeks depending on the destination port.

Air freight: Faster than sea freight, usually taking 1 – 2 weeks, and is a good option for medium – sized orders when time is a factor but not as urgent as express shipping.
